Speed Humps in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland

In the fjords of Eastern Iceland, lies the quaint little town of Seyðisfjörður. Once home to famous artist Dieter Roth and now the terminus of the ferries arriving from mainland Europe, Seyðisfjörður is beautiful. Near a school, we found this sign. We’ve seen signs for speed bumps before, but never a sign for dual speed humps. My wife nicknamed this sign: children running across women’s breasts. I think is appropriately named!

More Tabasco’s Fun in Reykjavik, Iceland

Just a day after finding the irony of Tabasco’s restaurant in Reykjavik – which features Mexican and Traditional Icelandic Food, I found this sign outside of it one night. This just completely makes the point I’ve saying – Mexican food and traditional Icelandic food just don’t go together. Do one or the other, but both is just weird. “Yes, I’ll take the chips and guacamole, a margarita to drink and for my main dish, I’ll have Minke Whale steak cooked medium.” No thanks, I’ll eat anywhere but here.

Tabasco's in Reykjavik, Iceland

I found this sign on the window of Tabasco’s restaurant in Reykjavik. The sign implores us to try Traditional Icelandic Food….at a Mexican bar and grill. Which of these things don’t go together. I’m all in favor of Mexican food (I eat it 4 or 5 times a week) and I thoroughly enjoyed trying traditional Icelandic food. But these things just don’t go together. I can only imagine ordering here: “Yes, I’ll take the chips and guacamole, a margarita to drink and for my main dish, I’ll have Minke Whale steak cooked medium, oh, and some skyr for dessert, but drizzle a little kahlua on it.” Bizarre.

Highway Robbery, Akureyri, Iceland

In Akureyri, Iceland, we saw this sign right near where the cruise ships dock. This is absolute highway robbery. They charge $310 for a one day taxi trip to Myvatn. That was half what our rental car cost for 8 days in Iceland. Don’t get me wrong, Myvatn is totally worth it, but there’s got to be a cheaper way for cruise ship passengers to get there.

Solheimajokull Glacier in Iceland

I found this sign at the Solheimajokull glacier in Southern Iceland. I love how people are warned not to walk on the glacier, but a group can be seen in the background.

The Sólheimajökull is part of the massive Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. It is about 5 miles long.

Coke Egypt

At the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia, I spied this interesting Coke sign from Egypt. This is a perfect example of how Coke adapts its advertising to the local environment.

Coke Pakistan

At the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, George, I spied this Coke sign from Pakistan. First, I thought it was strange that a sign from Pakistan would be in English.
