I found this sign on the window of Tabasco’s restaurant in Reykjavik. The sign implores us to try Traditional Icelandic Food….at a Mexican bar and grill. Which of these things don’t go together. I’m all in favor of Mexican food (I eat it 4 or 5 times a week) and I thoroughly enjoyed trying traditional Icelandic food. But these things just don’t go together. I can only imagine ordering here: “Yes, I’ll take the chips and guacamole, a margarita to drink and for my main dish, I’ll have Minke Whale steak cooked medium, oh, and some skyr for dessert, but drizzle a little kahlua on it.” Bizarre.
